A Few Frustrations

It's no surprise to anyone that follows this blog, my twitter, or knows me in real life that I'm a snarky little beotch. I'll be the first to admit it.

So while I was racking my little brain for a blog idea today (also while wasting time on twitter and fb), I kept seeing little things that just bugged the piss out of me. I thought to myself, "Self, you're a venter. So why not just vent on that little blog of yours?" So that's what I'm going to do. You've been warned.

1. Businesses- why do you not keep regular business hours? There are a few small businesses/food places that are a crap shoot on whether they will be open or not. Sure, they say they are open from 10-4 or whatever, but that's just not the case. Or when you see those little handwritten notes on the door that say "Be back in 5 minutes." 5 minutes from when exactly? How are you supposed to keep your customers if they can't depend on you. It just looks bad, k?

2. People that don't respond- you make me angry. If I took the time out of my day to reply or comment, the least you could do is return the favor...at least sometimes. No, I don't expect it every single time, but once in a blue moon would be nice. Maybe I don't have hundreds or thousands of followers like you, but that does not make me any less of a person than your rude, popular butt. If I like you, I'll be your biggest supporter. I'm a talker; I like conversing in email or twitter or leaving comments, but there comes a point when I just give up.

3. Sponsoring- I get it. You want to make money on your blog. Heck, I've even sponsored a blog before. But I don't feel like I will again. Why? Because the person never showed any interest in my blog or twitter. No communication. No comments on my blog. No replies on the twit. Heck, they didn't even follow me (blog or twitter).

I feel like if I'm paying money, that's the least you could do in return, right?  I sponsored that blog for a reason, because I honestly liked that blogger and wanted to become friends with her. Maybe I just don't know how it works or truly get it, but I felt a little bad about that.  Just didn't seem worth it to me.

4. Attention whores- you know who you are. Or maybe you really just don't get how it looks. The vague comments just asking for a reply- then get mad when someone asks about it. The tons of posts talking about how amazing you are. The posts that are just reworded and posted again only an hour or two later. The statements that are fishing for compliments. Believe me, I'm all about some fb and twitter. But when people are blocking you because you are an attention-seeking heifer, that's when it gets frustrating. And you can't defriend them because you don't want to make things awkward. So then you're just all...

5. Plate pickers- keep your hands to yourself. It's beyond me why someone thingk it's okay to snatch something off your plate without bothering to ask first. I don't even do this to my immediate family without asking. I mean it's not a big deal; I wasn't going to eat it all anyway, but it's just common courtesy to ask. I've also had people say "give me the ...." What? Give it to you? Let's have some manners. So if we are at dinner, don't reach across the table and across my plate and pluck something off of my it without at least asking first.

So there are a few frustrations. Lezbehonest- we all have them; I just said them.

I obviously just learned how to use a gif in a blog post and am super excited about it. That may frustrate you, and that's ok too. Thanks to Brooke and Pearls and Curls for all your help!

Do you agree with me or am I way off base?

  1. well. i pick off people's plates. so don't ever invite me to dinner. : ) glad you got the gifs working cause I LOVE them.

As for sponsoring, it's a crapshoot. I get lots of page views from one person and so, when I sponsor someone else I'm like, well I don't get as many as I get from _____'s blog.

And I know about the comments thing and responding. Some days I have to blog at lunch and then I don't have time in the evening and I get overwhelmed and don't respond. And I don't have that many readers. But I do try to answer most of the time.

As for attention seeking whores. I hope you aren't talking about me : )

  2. LOVE these gifs and this post! I did the same post last week :)

As for sponsoring - I think it's one of those things you just have to play with. I also don't think blogs that just give you a sidebar ad are worth it. I rarely look at those sidebar ads. So I only sponsor a blog if they are going to do a giveaway and/or give me random social media or blog post shout outs. One blog I highly recommend - travel-babbles.com. Her ads are cheap and she really sticks to her word! Good luck, friend :)

  3. Great list. I laughed and nodded at quite a few of these.

I just sponsored my first blog recently. That blogger has done everything she promised in the agreement, so I feel good about it. I don't know if she follows or even reads my blog, but I suppose that's okay.

The plate picker item made me think about Joey on "Friends," when he wouldn't go on a second date with Phoebe's friend because she took food off his plate. Ha ha ha.

  5. LOL - those gifs have cracked me up!!! It makes me so sad that I don't get Bravo anymore to watch the Housewives.

I've never sponsored a blog, so not much to comment about that. I'm like you though, I'd at least like some comments/shoutouts/anything!

And do tell of this business that you're talking about?? I want to make sure to not waste my time going there!

  6. I'm with you on the whole commenting/responding thing. I admit that I can be bad about responding to everyone, but I'm trying to get better. There's people I comment on and comment on, and never receive anything back. Some others don't even check out my blog. I mean, if I saw someone comment on every post, I would take notice.

The whole sponsoring thing... I want to sponsor a blog to know the blogger better and to grow my blog. It's sad that the other blogger may or may not feel the same.

It seems like blogging is like high school. It's sad. We aren't 15 years old. We are adults lol

  7. Haha love the gifs! I hear ya, how hard is it to reply or follow someone? No one is that big of a deal where they can not do those simple things esp when you are PAYING them. I feel like someone should make a list of bloggers who do this so I can make sure to never make the mistake of sponsoring them.

  8. Haha, I love reading these kinds of posts!

I am the worlds worst plate picker with guys I date (your meal is my meal, I like to say), but other than that typically keep my hands to myself.

  9. I don't like when people have that kind of sponsorship experience either. You are paying for a service, and really even if it's not a lot of money, you deserve to have your blog/ shop marketed correctly. I don't like when people want to swap and don't follow my blog... ummm... really? I make a point of not even putting "sponsored post" in my blog titles of my sponsors.

  10. Oh. My. God. These are my favorite posts of all time. I did a rant on social media annoyances and used Real Housewives gifs too. One of my all time favorites. You can't go wrong with them.

And you're right about all of these things. Especially about big bloggers thinking they're too cool to respond or follow back. And the classless god was my favorite there
